Bil Wright is great! I went to a workshop he presented at Grub Street's Muse & the Marketplace Conference a few years ago and got a lot out of that, as well as his books. So happy to see you spotlight his work.
I have another question, what is your opinion on pitching multiple editors with the same pitch? Should you wait to hear back/get ghosted before you pitch another editor with the same story?
I have a question! I’ve heard that if you’re writing memoir, that hybrid memoir, or what Leigh Stein calls memoir plus (memoir combined with some element of nonfiction i.e. research, reporting, etc.) is getting bought up by publishers more now than traditional memoir. But in a recent talk Jane Friedman said hybrid memoir is actually harder to sell. What’s your take? Thx!
As a Canadian girl, Anne of Green Gables will always hold a huge place in my booklover heart. Pretty sure my love of Anne when I was a little girl is why I have implicit trust and affection for every single human with blissfully red hair.

Oh that's awesome! I didn't realize he also teaches.

A great question-- I'll try to address it in a forthcoming Friday Office Hours!
Thank you!
I might have that last line tattooed.

Summer, your question is going to be featured (and answered) in this Wednesday's newsletter. Thank you for asking it!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
Basically, memoir in general is super super hard to sell right now but let me think on this a bit- thanks for the question, Summer!

It is one of the reasons I have implicit envy of every single human with red hair! I even have a red haired horse!
What would you say is the biggest mistake you see debut authors make in trying to market their book?
